Heinrich Georg Neuss
Heinrich Georg Neuss (born March 11, 1654 in Elbingerode near Herzberg am Harz , † September 30, 1716 in Wernigerode ) was a German hymn poet and pastor.
Life
Neuss studied theology at the University of Erfurt , was a preacher in Quedlinburg , then a teacher, vice rector, from 1684 rector in Blankenburg (Harz) . 1690 he was selected by Duke Rudolf August of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel as a deacon by Wolfenbüttel appointed. From 1692 he was the Duke's travel preacher. In 1696 he followed a call as chief preacher to St. Sylvestri , superintendent and consistorial councilor to Wernigerode. He also obtained his doctorate in theology in 1696.
In 1712 Neuss published the first hymn book of the County of Wernigerode . He converted the school for the poor at Westerntor into an orphanage .
