Heinrich Gottfried Engelbrecht

Heinrich Gottfried Engelbrecht (* October 1745 ; † October 18, 1806 near Kröllwitz ) was a Prussian colonel and knight of the order Pour le Mérite .

family

Engelbrecht came from the extensive Engelbrecht family . His parents were the Prussian major Julius Christoph Engelbrecht (1694–1784) and Margarethe Sophia von der Marwitz († 1792).

He himself married Barbara Magdalena von Below (1743–1814) after 1773

career

Engelbrecht joined the Prussian Army and in 1760 was initially in the “von Brünneck” infantry regiment . He was promoted to ensign on May 28, 1763 and switched to the "von Manteuffel" infantry regiment . Engelbrecht was promoted to Second Lieutenant on May 8, 1763 , Premier Lieutenant on July 31, 1778 , Captain on July 2, 1786, Captain on November 22, 1787 and Major on July 7, 1793 . As such, Engelbrecht was appointed regimental commander on October 12, 1798. On June 2, 1800, on the occasion of the Mockerau Revue , he received the order Pour le Mérite. He was promoted to lieutenant colonel on June 15, 1806 and finally reached the rank of colonel on June 15, 1804.

During the Fourth Coalition War , Engelbrecht succumbed to his injuries after being wounded in the battle near Kröllwitz on the night of October 18, 1806. He died without leaving any offspring.
