Heinrich Greeven

Heinrich Greeven (born October 4, 1906 in Thorn ; † June 7, 1990 in Bochum ) was a German Protestant theologian and university professor who u. a. researched very intensively in the field of textual criticism . The synopsis , which he edited several times, is well known .

Life

After graduating from high school in Bad Kreuznach and studying Protestant theology , Greeven worked as a student pastor at the University of Greifswald from 1930 and was able to do a doctorate and habilitation there . As a member of the Confessing Church , he was transferred to Heidelberg University in 1937 . After military service and imprisonment, he became pastor in Heidelberg- Wieblingen in 1947 , associate professor in Heidelberg in 1948, lecturer in 1950 and professor at the Bethel Theological School in 1954 . From there he moved to the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel as a full professor in 1956 , where he was rector in 1960/61 . From 1964 until his retirement in 1972 he taught at the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the Ruhr University Bochum . There, too, he was rector from October 15, 1965 to October 14, 1967.

He was a member of the Ecumenical Working Group of Protestant and Catholic Theologians (ÖAK) for years and contributed to publications.
