Heinrich Johann Bulle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinrich Johann Bülle (born around 1686; † June 16, 1761 in Schwerin ) was a Mecklenburg court sculptor whose work is shaped by the design language of the Flemish Baroque .

Life

There is no reliable evidence of the origin of Heinrich Johann Bülle (also Hinrich Johan Bülle). An apprenticeship in Lübeck with Thomas Quellinus is likely.

From 1709 he was in the service of Duke Friedrich Wilhelm I of Mecklenburg and in 1717 was appointed "Hoff sculptor, stone and structure worker" by the succeeding Duke Karl Leopold . Bülle lived on the shelf in Schwerin Neustadt and had three daughters from two marriages. One of his sons-in-law was the architect and court builder Johann Joachim Busch , who among other things built the town church of Ludwigslust . Other members of the Busch family were involved in the manufacture of altarpieces together with Bülle. Bülle died in Schwerin in June 1761.
