Heinrich Kron
Heinrich Kron (born May 25, 1923 in Kaiserslautern , † September 11, 2007 in Landau ) was a Protestant theologian . From 1975 to 1988 he was church president of the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate (Protestant regional church) .
Life and career
Kron was born as the son of the church servant Johann Kron and his wife Elisabeth. Wenz born. After attending primary school, he attended grammar school in his hometown, where he graduated from high school in 1942. He then studied Protestant theology at the Universities of Montpellier and Mainz . From 1950 Kron was vicar and from 1954 pastor in Neuhofen (Pfalz) and later in Kaiserslautern-West. In 1965 he was elected dean of the Landau church district in the Palatinate , before he was appointed to the senior church council in 1974 in the regional church office of the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate in Speyer . Since 1967 he was also a member of the Palatinate State Synod .
In 1975, the regional synod of the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate elected Kron in the third ballot against his competitor Heinz Kronauer as church president and thus as the successor to Walter Ebrecht , who retired and had run against Kron in his 1969 election. At that time, Kron withdrew his candidacy after 12 ballots. As a result of a constitutional amendment, Kron was the first church president of the Palatinate in 1975 to stand for re-election after seven years. He was confirmed in office in 1982 in the third ballot. After reaching the age limit, Kron retired in 1988; The regional synod elected Werner Schramm as his successor .
Kron was married to Helgard geb. Klink and had a son and a daughter.
Honorary positions
Kron was chairman of the Palatinate Parish Association from 1960 and of the Association of Evangelical Parish Associations in Germany from 1969. In 1973 he was also a member of the EKD Synod .
Awards
Kron received the Great Federal Cross of Merit in 1983 and the Cross of Merit with a Star in 1988.
