Heinrich Wimmer (organist)

Heinrich Wimmer (born June 23, 1964 in Altötting ) is a German organist .

Life

From the age of 14, Wimmer worked as an organist at various churches in his hometown Altötting. At the specialist academy for Catholic church music and music education in Regensburg he studied a. a. with Walther R. Schuster , then Passau cathedral organist , with Karl Norbert Schmid , with Hermann Schroeder and with Oskar Sigmund . He pursued further studies in the main subject of organ with Klemens Schnorr at the State University of Music in Munich , which he completed in 1989 with the artistic matriculation examination, the concert diploma and in 1991 with the master class diploma.

Since 1985 he has been organist at the parish church of St. Jakob in Burghausen , where he he predisposed three building the manualigen Rieger - Organ with 50 registers initiated. In 1986 he initiated an international organ concert series in Burghausen. At numerous concerts in several European countries, in the Middle and Far East, he played a. a. the entire organ works by Johann Sebastian Bach , Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Max Reger . He is also interested in organ music by Dietrich Buxtehude , Georg Muffat , Nicolaus Bruhns , the French Classical and German and French Romantic periods ( Julius Reubke , Josef Gabriel Rheinberger , César Franck , Alexandre Guilmant , Louis Vierne and Marcel Dupré ).

Wimmer has premiered or premiered around 150 organ compositions by contemporary composers (e.g. Harald Genzmer , Augustinus Franz Kropfreiter , Hans-Ludwig Schilling , Hermann Schroeder and in particular Oskar Sigmund ) at international festivals. In addition to numerous radio recordings, he made 25 CDs. In addition, as editor and author, he has written scientific articles on organ music and biographical studies on composers.
