Heinrich von Dehn-Rotfelser

Heinrich von Dehn-Rotfelser , also Dehn-Rothfelser , (born August 6, 1825 in Hanau , † June 29, 1885 in Berlin ) was a German architect , Hessian or Prussian construction officer and monument conservator .

Life

Heinrich was a descendant of the builder Hans von Dehn-Rothfelser . After completing his training in 1847, he entered the service of the Hessian Elector Friedrich Wilhelm I as a construction manager and worked mainly in Bad Wilhelmshöhe .

In 1865 Dehn-Rotfelser was appointed master builder and in 1868 appointed professor at the Kassel Art Academy . After 1866, a larger practical activity opened up for him, as the new building of the Kassel picture gallery was entrusted to him, which he carried out in the neo-renaissance style from 1872 to 1877 .

In 1878 he was promoted to the rank of government and building councilor in the district government of Potsdam and was provisionally appointed in 1881, and finally in 1882 as a secret councilor to conservator of art monuments in the Prussian state and lecturer in the Prussian Ministry of Culture. In the same year he became an extraordinary member of the "Academy of Building" in Berlin.

The later Prussian Lieutenant General Friedrich von Dehn-Rotfelser (1857–1931) was his son.

Heinrich von Dehn-Rotfelser died in Berlin in 1885 at the age of 64 and was buried in the Old Twelve Apostles Cemetery in Schöneberg . The grave has not been preserved.
