Heinz-Jürgen Blome (born December 14, 1946 - † November 7, 2012 ) was a German football player. The defensive player and his club VfL Bochum reached the final of the DFB Cup in 1968 .

career

The defender, who came from the VfL youth team, played for VfL Bochum from 1965 to 1973 . Under coach Hubert Schieth he came to the regional league newcomer in 1965/66 to seven missions in the then second division of the regional football league West . In their second year in the Regionalliga, the team from Castroper Strasse already played their way up to fourth place and Blome had played 17 games alongside newcomer Heinz Höher and the goal- scoring midfielder Gustav Eversberg . From the 1967/68 season Hermann Eppenhoff took over the coaching position for President Ottokar Wüst's team and the newcomers Erich Schiller and Hans-Jürgen Jansen strengthened the squad, which also included the attacker Werner Balte from his own youth . The robust and strong duel Blome completed 18 league games and Bochum landed in fifth place. For Blome and his teammates, however, the DFB Cup competition developed into the real highlight of the 1967/68 season. With Gerd Wiesemes he formed the VfL defender pair and was part of the team that subsequently won the Bundesliga clubs Karlsruher SC (3: 2), VfB Stuttgart (2: 1), Borussia Mönchengladbach (2: 0) and FC Bayern Munich (2 : 1) was thrown out of the race and entered the German Cup final on June 9, 1968 in Ludwigshafen. The defensive performance of VfL played an important role , especially in the successes against the offensive quality of the Gladbachers with Herbert Wimmer , Herbert L Bäumen , Günter Netzer and Klaus Ackermann as well as the Bayern players around Franz Beckenbauer , Franz Roth , Rainer Ohlhauser , Gerd Müller and Dieter Brenninger . In the final, however, 1. FC Köln prevailed with 4-1 goals; against the offensive swing of Carl-Heinz Rühl , Heinz Flohe , Johannes Löhr , Wolfgang Overath and Heinz Hornig , the regional league could not survive.

In his fourth year Regionalliga, 1968/69, it brought Blome to 33 appearances and one goal. Bochum took third place. The reinforcement by playmaker Werner Krämer and striker Hans Walitza for the 1969/70 round brought Blome and colleagues the two championship wins in 1970 and 1971 in the Regionalliga West. In the first round of promotion to the Bundesliga , 1970, the VfL failed on the South representative Kickers Offenbach. Blome had appeared in five promotion games. In the second attempt, in 1971, Bochum prevailed sovereignly and achieved the hoped-for promotion to the Bundesliga. Blome had played all eight games in the promotion round and completed a total of 128 regional league games and scored one goal for VfL Bochum from 1965 to 1971.

In the Bundesliga he moved to the second row. In two years, 1971/72 and 1972/73 , he played 16 Bundesliga games. In total, he played 144 games with one goal for VfL. In the summer of 1973 he ended his career at his hometown club and went back to the amateur camp. From 1973 to 1974 he played for VfL Witten .
