Heinz Koiky

Heinz Koiky (born July 6, 1920 in Behle , Pomerania ; † October 19, 1986 in Cochem ) was a German doctor , civil servant and medical director .

After successfully completing his Abitur in 1938, he initially worked in the Reich Labor Service, followed by basic military service and military service in the Air Force . From 1940 to 1945 he was given the opportunity as a soldier to study medicine in Greifswald and Kiel . When the war was over, he passed his state examination in 1945 and received his doctorate in 1948 in order to devote himself to further training as a specialist in pulmonary and pediatric medicine . Trained in this way, he now campaigned for the cure and control of tuberculosis in children. Koiky got a job in the public service on January 1, 1963 in the state health department of Ehingen (Danube) while at the same time he attended the Academy for Practical Medicine in Düsseldorf . In February 1966 Koiky took over the management of the Cochem health department, which he found in poor condition at that time and which he was able to successfully campaign for better staffing. In addition to his many voluntary activities, he was also a member of the State Medical Association and also on the Expert Council of the Federal Working Group for Rehabilitation . In 1986 he was awarded the Cross of Merit on Ribbon for his enduring efforts in health care for the population. After his death in the same year he found his final resting place in the Cochem cemetery.
