Heinz Neukrantz

Heinz Neukrantz (born February 9, 1917 in Berlin ; † March 3, 2004 ) was a German FDGB and SED functionary. He was secretary of the federal executive committee of the FDGB and a member of the people 's chamber .

Life

The son of a working-class family learned to be an industrial clerk after attending elementary school and high school from 1936 to 1939. In 1939 he was drafted into the Wehrmacht for military service and in 1945 was taken prisoner by the Americans.

After his release he went back to Berlin and became a member of the KPD and the FDGB in 1945 and the SED in 1946 . From 1945 to 1949 he was an employee in the employment office or district office in Berlin-Lichtenberg . In 1949 he became head of the organization department and in 1950 second secretary of the SED district leadership in Lichtenberg. In 1952/53 he acted as secretary of the SED's works party organization in the FDGB district executive. From 1953 to 1955 he was chairman of the Berlin district board of the administration-banking-insurance union. He then worked from 1956 to February 1966 as chairman of the Berlin district committee of the FDGB. At the same time he was a member of the SED district leadership and its office. From 1958 to 1967 he was also a city councilor in Berlin. In 1960/61 he studied at the party college with a degree in social science . In October 1959 he was elected to the Federal Board (BuV) at the 5th FDGB Congress. From 1959 to April 1982 he was a member of the Presidium of the FDGB Federal Board and from November 1965 to April 1982 he was Secretary for International Relations of the FDGB Federal Board. But he remained a member of the BuV until 1990. From 1966 to 1974 he was a member of the Presidium of the Central Board of the Society for German-Soviet Friendship .

From 1954 to 1986 he was a member of the FDGB parliamentary group in the People's Chamber.

In 1982 he retired and worked on an honorary basis until 1989 as chairman of the central complaints committee of the administration of social security at the FDGB federal board.

Neukrantz is the brother of long-time DFD chairwoman Ilse Thiele .
