Heinz Reeh

Heinz Josef Reeh (born June 27, 1941 in Kaile , Bohemia) is a German opera singer ( bass ).

Life

Heinz Reeh was born as the son of the trained carpenter and wheelwright Gustav Reeh (born May 29, 1921 - April 21, 2004 in Zempin ) and Steffi Reeh (born June 3, 1920) in Kaile ( Bohemia ). After the Second World War, his father was taken prisoner by the Soviets for a few years, while his mother and her son were forcibly resettled from their Bohemian homeland as part of the expulsion of the Sudeten Germans to Zempin. Heinz Reeh spent most of his childhood in Zempin on the island of Usedom . At the age of 17 he moved to Berlin to study.

Heinz Reeh studied singing with Freiwald-Lange from 1958 to 1965 at the "Hanns Eisler" Academy of Music in Berlin . During his studies he achieved his first successes in international singing competitions in Zwickau , Prague , Budapest and Geneva . In 1965, Heinz Reeh was engaged at the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin , initially in the opera studio, and from 1966 as a permanent member of the ensemble.

Guest contracts took him to the Komische Oper Berlin , the Semperoper Dresden and the Opernhaus Leipzig . He also made concert tours to Eastern Europe, India , Sri Lanka , France and Sweden . In 1978 he was awarded the title of chamber singer .

From 1972 he taught singing at the “Hanns Eisler” University of Music in Berlin, from 1993 until his retirement in 2006 as a full professor.

In 1995 he ended his active singing career and has since devoted himself exclusively to teaching.

repertoire

In addition to songs, Heinz Reeh's vocal repertoire includes important opera and concert roles in the bass field. In addition, he participated in world premieres, including a. as Thomas in Robert Hanell's opera Esther , with which he made his debut at the Berlin State Opera.
