Coat of arms of the von Helffreich

Helffreich is the name of Baltic , originally Württemberg family .

history

The family comes from Owen an der Lauter , where the family line begins with the brothers Georg Helfferich, the elder, and Hans Helfferich , who married there in 1575 . Of the eight children of the 2nd generation, Georg Helfferich (* 1592; † 1661) was a judge in Göppingen . This became the progenitor of the Wuerttemberg scholarly family, to which Johann Helffrich († after 1579) also belonged.

The above Georg Helfrich, the elder , became a citizen and councilor in Leipzig . In recognition of the services rendered by his son Christoph Helfrich († after 1568) in the Turkish campaign (1566/1568), Georg Helfrich, the elder , and his descendants were elevated to the imperial nobility on December 4, 1569 by Emperor Maximilian in Prague with an improved coat of arms. Christoph Helfrich's son, Melchior Helffreich († after 1596), went into Polish service and proved himself in the Livonian War , then took part in the siege of Krakow and was also present at the Battle of Pechur ; in his last employment he served as Fahrensbach's agent .

Melchior's descendants received the Swedish nobility naturalization in 1680 (No. 911). The family was registered as No. 57 in the Livonian Knighthood around 1745 and also enrolled in the Estonian Knighthood (No. 90) in 1746 .

Relatives excelled in Polish, Swedish, but above all in Russian military and civilian service.
