Helmut Kajzar
Helmut Kajzar (born August 18, 1941 in Bielitz , † August 21, 1982 in Breslau ) was a Polish writer and theater director .
Life
Helmut Kajzar studied Polish language and literature as well as philosophy at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow in the 1960s . During his studies he was a member of Student Theater 38 and after graduating he began to study directing at the PWST State Theater School in Warsaw . His first productions as a director were seen in Katowice and Wrocław as early as 1967 , before he completed his directing studies in 1969. In 1969 he also wrote his first drama entitled Paternoster . As a writer and director, he was associated with theater of the absurd and experimental theater. He wrote numerous original essays on theater makers such as Jerzy Grotowski , Tadeusz Kantor and Konrad Swinarski and translated plays by Peter Handke and Franz Xaver Kroetz into Polish. In addition to his numerous productions in Poland, he also worked in theaters in Germany , England and Sweden . In 1980 he lived in Berlin for a year on a grant from the German Academic Exchange Service . In addition to his dramas, he also wrote novels and radio plays .
