Helmut Müller (politician, 1910)

Helmut Müller (born June 16, 1910 in Berlin ; † May 16, 1986 ) was a German functionary of the GDR block party LDPD . He was chairman of the LDPD district committee in Karl-Marx-Stadt and a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR .

Life

Müller, the son of a painter, completed a commercial apprenticeship after attending elementary and high school and then worked as a clerk . During the Second World War he was drafted into the army for military service and was taken prisoner of war .

After his release he worked as an employee of the Dresden city ​​administration . He became a city and district councilor in Dresden. Müller joined the Liberal Democratic Party of Germany (LDP, later LDPD) in 1947 and was chairman of the LDP district executive in Dresden in 1950/51. From 1950 to 1952 he was deputy Saxon state chairman of the LDPD. From 1950 to 1952 he was also a member of the Saxon state parliament . After the districts were formed in the GDR, he acted from 1952 to 1959 as chairman of the LDPD district association Karl-Marx-Stadt, after which he was deputy chairman of the district board. From 1952 to 1961 he was also deputy chairman of the council of the Karl-Marx-Stadt district and a member of the district assembly . From 1952 he was a member of the central executive committee of the LDPD and its political committee. He was deputy chairman of the Karl-Marx-Stadt district executive of the Society for German-Soviet Friendship .

From 1954 to 1958 he was a member of the People's Chamber . In 1962 Müller became head of the publishing house for the Thüringische Landeszeitung in Weimar , and later he was an editor at the Sächsisches Tageblatt . In 1980 he retired.
