Helsingin Kisa-Veikot
Helsingin Kisa-Veikot (abbreviated HKV ) is a sports club from the Finnish capital Helsinki . The club is best known for its track and field athletes.
history
The association was founded in 1909. The club name Kisa-Veikot can be translated from Finnish as competition brothers . Just one year after it was founded, Kisa-Veikot won the Kalevan malja , the award for the best team at the Finnish athletics championships . Until 1917, the club's athletes were able to defend the Kalevan malja seven times before local competitor Helsingfors IFK won the title at the 1918 Athletics Championships in Helsinki. In 2011 HKV won the cup for the 55th time. The team was dominant especially between 1958 and 1970, when the Kalevan malja was won 13 times in a row.
