Henning Hoops (born December 16, 1946 in Cuxhaven ) is a German naval officer. As a flotilla admiral, he was most recently admiral for naval armaments and naval logistics.

Military career

Hoops entered the service of the German Navy in 1966 after graduating from high school . He was trained as a career officer and belongs to the Navy Crew VI / 66. In 1969 he was transferred to the speedboat flotilla , where he served as an officer on watch and commander of speedboats . From 1977 he took part in a study at the Naval Postgraduate School of the US Navy in Monterey , California and then worked in the training area of ​​the Navy.

From 1983 to 1985 he completed the general staff course at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg . Subsequently, he served as deputy commander of the 5th Schnellbootgeschwader, as a staff officer in the fleet command and as a consultant in the planning staff of the Federal Ministry of Defense .

From 1990 to 1992 Hoops was commander of the 7th Schnellbootgeschwader before he returned to the leadership academy as head of the Admiral Staff Course. From 1994 to 1997, Hoops served at NATO headquarters in Brussels . After serving in the naval support command, Hoops became the commander of the Schnellbootflotille in Warnemünde in October 1999 . In April 2004, Hoops moved to the Naval Office in Rostock as Admiral Naval Armament and Naval Logistics (AMRL) . During this time, from December 2004 to April 2005, he led the multinational Task Force 150 within the framework of Operation Enduring Freedom in the Horn of Africa . At the end of 2008, Hoops retired due to age.
