Bernd-Georg Klug (born December 12, 1914 in Barmen ; † June 15, 1976 in Kiel ) was a German naval officer, most recently a flotilla admiral of the German Navy.

Life

Klug joined the Reichsmarine in 1933 and was trained as an artillery officer. He completed his training abroad with the 33 crew on the light cruiser Karlsruhe under Wilhelm Harsdorf von Enderndorf. Promoted to lieutenant in the sea in 1936 , he served on speedboats of the Navy from 1937 . His first assignment was in the Spanish Civil War , where he was honored for his services.

When the Second World War broke out , he was in command of the S 18 and later of the S 28 . In the period from 1939 to 1941 he took part in over 100 missions with his boat. They took place during the attack on Poland in the Baltic Sea , at the Weser Exercise company in the North Sea off Norway and later in the Canal . On March 12, 1941, he was awarded the Knight's Cross. From July 1941 to June 1944 he was in command of the 5th Schnellboot Flotilla as Corvette Captain . On January 1, 1944, he was the first soldier in the speedboat to be awarded the oak leaf . The flotilla was the most successful in the Navy under his leadership. At the end of April 1944, he successfully attacked allied units that were training for the invasion of Normandy (see also: Exercise Tiger ). From June 1944 until the end of the war he was stationed as 1st Admiral Staff Officer with the leader of the Schnellboot .

He was released from captivity in May 1946 . In 1956 he joined the German Navy . Among other things, he was a naval attaché in France , commander of the Schnellbootflotille (1962–1964), commander of the North Sea naval section command (1964–1966) and then commander of the Mürwik naval school . Retired in 1968, he died in Kiel at the age of 61.
