Heinrich Lange (born February 22, 1955 in Bevensen ) is a German Vice Admiral a. D. of the German Navy .

Military background

After graduating from high school, Lange joined the German Armed Forces in 1974 . He first attended the Mürwik naval school in Flensburg - Mürwik . Numerous on-board assignments on the sailing training ship Gorch Fock and various speed boats followed .

His training includes studies in economics and organizational sciences at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg (degree in business administration 1978), studies in operations analysis at the US Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey (California) (degree in 1988 Master of Science in Operations Research ) and the admiral staff training at the command academy of the Bundeswehr 1989–1991.

His stations were further Olpenitz , Bonn (at the Ministry of Defense ), Olpenitz as commander of the 5th speedboat squadron again Bonn, Brussels (in NATO - Headquarters ), Warnemünde as the last commander of the Schnellbootflottille again Flensburg as commander of the Naval Academy Mürwik and down 2007 Bonn again.

In addition to managing operations with speedboats, Lange was also involved in personnel management in the Bundeswehr, the conception of the navy, officer training and Bundeswehr planning. Lange took part in numerous maneuvers in the North and Baltic Seas and in the Atlantic. In 2006 he was the leader of the Navy Task Force 150 as part of Operation Enduring Freedom in the Horn of Africa .

From May 29, 2009, he was Deputy Inspector of the Navy and Chief of Staff in the Naval Staff and, during the 2012 restructuring, in the Staff Inspector of the Navy. On July 31, 2013, he handed over this post to Andreas Krause and took over from Norbert Finster as head of the Armed Forces Department in the Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg). He handed over this post on September 22, 2015. On September 30, 2015, he was retired.

In 1991 he received the General von Clausewitz Medal of Honor from the Clausewitz Society .

He has been with his wife Ute, geb. Hildebrand, married, with whom he has three children of legal age.
