Reinhart Ostertag (born October 28, 1913 in Stuttgart , † March 20, 1994 in Wilhelmshaven ) was a German naval officer.

Life

As an officer in the merchant navy, Ostertag joined the Navy on January 4, 1937. First in the II./Schiffstammabteilung in Stralsund, he came in May 1937 for artillery training at the ship artillery school in Kiel. As an ensign at sea , he completed the weapons courses at the Mürwik naval school . After the ensign training in the 2nd escort flotilla, he went from October 1938 as the 2nd and 1st watch officer in the 2nd minesweeping flotilla. At the end of 1940 he was a company commander at the barrier school in Kiel, and from February 1941 he was adjutant and commanderin the 2nd minesweeping flotilla. In September 1942 he came to the naval school as a company commander and group officer. In November 1944 he became the commander of the 12th minesweeping flotilla. On the day the Wehrmacht surrendered, he was taken prisoner by the English , which he spent on board the boats until the end of October 1947.

After a two-year apprenticeship as a carpenter, he was a journeyman carpenter from November 1949 to June 1951. In July 1951 he was hired by the Labor Service Unit (B) as the commander of a minesweeper and head of training. At the end of April 1956 , he was assigned to the naval headquarters and was five months on-board training manager for officer candidates in the command of naval training . In October 1956 he came to the personnel department of the Federal Ministry of Defense for a good two years as an assistant officer . From November 1, 1958 to September 30, 1960 he was commander of the 4th mine sweeping squadron . After exactly two years as a personnel officer (A 1) at the fleet command , he became deputy head of the naval office on April 1, 1967 . His last post was on April 1, 1968, as commander of the naval school. He was retired on September 30, 1971.
