Heinrich Erdmann
Heinrich Erdmann (born July 15, 1908 in Kiel , † March 19, 1992 in Munich ) was a German naval officer, most recently rear admiral of the German Navy.
Life
Erdmann joined the Reichsmarine as a midshipman in April 1927 and was trained as a naval officer. He took part in a 15-month training trip on the light cruiser Berlin . In the autumn of 1931 he was promoted to lieutenant at sea .
At the outbreak of the Second World War , Erdmann was lieutenant captain and commander of the T8 torpedo boat . In October 1941, Erdmann became chief of the 2nd torpedo boat flotilla as corvette captain and led it during the breakthrough of the German warships Scharnhorst , Gneisenau and Prinz Eugen through the English Channel in February 1942 ( Cerberus company ).
In June 1943 Erdmann switched to the staff of the leader of the speedboats , Commodore Rudolf Petersen , where he first became 1st Admiral Staff Officer and in June 1944 Chief of Staff . In April 1945 he took over command of the destroyer Z30 , but was no longer used.
After the war, Erdmann had a family with four children to support and worked in a paper and cardboard factory in Jülich , most recently as deputy operations manager.
In 1956 Erdmann joined the German Navy as a frigate captain and was initially responsible for the offspring of officers and NCOs. From December 1959 to July 1960, as captain at sea, he was chief of staff in command of the fleet . In August 1960 Erdmann became the commander of the Mürwik Naval School , where he became a flotilla admiral . From January 1962 to January 1966 he was Commander of the Naval Forces in the North Sea , finally serving as Rear Admiral and Head of the Plans & Policy Department at NATO Headquarters Northern Europe in Kolsås, Norway , until his retirement in 1968 .
Erdmann died eight days after his wife Grete in Munich.
