Jürgen Mannhardt (born March 17, 1954 ) is a retired flotilla admiral in the German Navy . In his last employment, he was Head of the Planning and Design Department in the Marine Command , Rostock .

Military career

Training and first uses

Jürgen Mannhardt joined the German Navy in 1972 . As an officer candidate for Crew VII / 72 , he began his training as a naval officer . From 1974 to 1977 he studied economics and organizational science at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg (degree in business administration). This was followed by training and employment as a boat weapons officer in the Schnellbootflotille (1978–1981). From 1981 to 1984 he took command of the S 49 “Wolf” speedboat in the 3rd Schnellbootgeschwader in Flensburg . After in-depth training in surface weapons (B course), he was an artillery and naval weapons officer on the destroyer "Mölders" in Kiel from 1985 to 1987 . From 1987 to 1989 Mannhardt took part in the admiralty staff course at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg.

Service as a staff officer

Mannhardt served as S3 and deputy commander in the 5th Schnellbootgeschwader in Olpenitz (1989-1991). This was followed by a use as an admiral staff officer for planning in the Schnellbootflotille staff in Flensburg . From 1993 to 1995 he was a consultant in the naval command at the Federal Ministry of Defense in Bonn . In the next function he worked from 1995 to 1996 as commander of the 3rd Schnellbootgeschwader in Flensburg. From 1996 to 2001 he was employed as a lecturer in leadership and management , then as a lecturer in operational management and deputy head of the marine leadership department at the Bundeswehr leadership academy in Hamburg. From 2001 to 2003 Mannhardt was deputy commander and A3 of the Schnellbootflotille in Rostock , including a four-month assignment as head of the German liaison team at USNAVCENT in Bahrain as part of Operation Enduring Freedom . In 2003 he became Head of the Operational Policy Matters Division in the Naval Staff. In 2006 he took over as head of deployment staff, later as chief of staff and deputy commander of the operational flotilla 1 in Kiel.

Service as an admiral

From 2007 to 2010 Mannhardt led the Mürwik Naval School as commander. He then became deputy head of office and head of specialist departments in the naval office in Rostock. On October 1, 2012, Mannhardt took over the planning and design department in the naval command in Rostock. On November 1, 2016, Mannhardt handed over his post to Captain Ulrich Reineke and was retired.
