Henny Geiger-Spiegel (born September 22, 1856 in Berlin , † 1915 in Leipzig ) was a German sculptor .

Life

Henny Spiegel received her training in the studios of Max Klein and Nikolaus Geiger , whom she married towards the end of the 1880s. Primarily active in Berlin, Henny Spiegel made figures and busts. As a member of the Association of Berlin Women Artists from 1884 to 1894, Henny Geiger-Spiegel regularly took part in the association's art exhibitions. She was also represented in 1889 at the Paris Salon , in 1889, 1891 and 1892 in the Glaspalast in Munich , in 1883, 1884, 1887 and 1888 at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition and at the International Art Exhibition in Venice .

After her husband died in 1898, she was commissioned to build a crowned gable figure at St. Hedwig's Church .

At the beginning of 1890, the Geiger'sche Haus on Nachodstrasse at the corner of Kaiserallee in Berlin-Wilmersdorf was owned by Nikolaus Geiger, which became Bernstein'schen Haus around 1900, and in which other sculptors, including Johannes Röttger and Franz Flaum (1867-1917), and a painter had their residence. Late 19th century belonged Henny Geiger levels along with Dora Hitz to the association of the XI , was with the artists Ludwig Dettmann , Josef Block , Reinhold Lepsius and Sabine Lepsius , Curt Herrmann , Philipp Franck , Max Uth and later to coming Wilhelm Trübner in sociable relationship, and carried out small collective exhibitions with them, including in 1897 in the Eduard Schulte art dealer in the Redern Palace on Pariser Platz.
