Henry Beckman
Henry Beckman (born November 26, 1921 in Halifax , Nova Scotia , † June 17, 2008 in Barcelona , Spain ) was a Canadian actor .
Life
Beckman joined the Canadian Army before his 18th birthday, served in World War II between 1939 and 1945, and participated in the invasion of Normandy . He began his acting career in 1950 in the Broadway -performance The Golden State . In 1951 he appeared in Darkness at Noon with Claude Rains and Jack Palance on the stage. He also appeared in various television series , but initially only in small supporting roles. He had his first recurring role in a series in 1955 as Commander Paul Richards in Flash Gordon . In the same year he married the theater producer Cheryl Maxwell. Both then ran The Dukes Oak Theater in New York together for two years .
In the 1960s, Beckman had minor roles in feature films like Blake Edwards ' Breakfast at Tiffany's , Alfred Hitchcock's Marnie, and Billy Wilder's Kiss Me, Fool . He also had recurring roles in the series Peyton Place and Here Come the Brides and 1975 as Harry Mark in Bronk . In 1979 he published the book How to Sell Your Film Project , a guide to making an independent film . Until the end of his acting career in 2002, he appeared in guest roles in various series from Bonanza to The X-Files .
In 1975 and 1978 he won the Best Supporting Actor award at the Canadian Film Awards , and in 1988 he was nominated for the Gemini Award .
