Henry Cisneros
Henry Gabriel Cisneros (born June 11, 1947 in San Antonio , Texas ) is an American politician ( Democratic Party ) and manager .
biography
After attending high school in San Antonio, he completed a degree in urban planning at Texas A&M University , which he completed in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and then in 1970 with a Master of Arts (MA) in Urban Planning . This was followed by postgraduate studies in public administration at Harvard University , which he completed with an MA in public administration . In 1975 his promotion to Philosophiae Doctor (Ph.D.) in Public Administration at the George Washington University .
His political career began in 1981 when he was elected mayor of San Antonio and was re-elected until 1989. His successor was his predecessor, Lila Cockrell . On January 22, 1993, he was of US President Bill Clinton as Minister of Housing and Urban Development ( Secretary of Housing and Urban Development ) in the Cabinet appointed. He remained in that office until the end of Clinton's first term on January 19, 1997.
Cisneros was later convicted of misleading the judiciary and perjury , but was pardoned by Clinton at the end of Clinton's tenure on January 20, 2001 .
After leaving government politics, he entered the private sector and was President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Univision from 1997 to 2000 . He then became a member of the Board of Directors of Countrywide Financial in 2001 and held that position until 2007. Cisneros was also vice chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and a board member of KB Hime and Univision.
In addition, he has held several positions in social and socio-political institutions and was also a member of the Executive Board of the American Film Institute , member of the Board of Trustees (Board of Trustees) of the Enterprise Foundation, Board Member of Homes for Working Families, the National Alliance to End Homelessness and the New America Alliance.
