Heorhij Tibilow

Heorhij Tibilow ( Russian Георгий Тибилов , Ukrainian Георгій Тібілов / Heorhij Tibilow; born November 6, 1984 in Ordzhonikidze ) is a Russian or Ukrainian wrestler . Starting for Russia , he was junior world champion 2003 in middleweight and, starting for Ukraine , vice European champion 2008 in light heavyweight, both in free style.

Career

Heorhij Tibilow, a Russian of Ossetian origin, started wrestling in 1994. He concentrated on the free style. It soon became apparent that he had great talent. The coaches Aslan Tokajew, Ruslan Schawlochow, Juri Nazarenko and Artur Basajew had or have their share in the successes of Heorhij Tibilow.

He started his international career with a victory at the 2003 Junior World Championship in Istanbul . He won the middleweight title there with a 4-1 point win over Steffen Hartan from Germany . In 2004 he was also Junior European Light Heavyweight Champion in Sofia . Here he defeated Salih Erinc from Turkey in the final battle .

The transition from junior to senior class turned out to be extremely difficult for Heorhij Tibilow. That was because in his weight class in Russia with Kuramagomed Kuramagomedow , Georgi Gogschelidze and Chadschimurad Gazalow there were three absolute world-class wrestlers that Heorhij Tibilow could not get past. For the time being, he did not make any further starts at international championships.

In 2006 he therefore decided to start for the Ukraine , but first had to assert himself there against tough competition. He is a member of Dinamo Kharkiv . In 2008 he qualified for the European Championship in Tampere . In Tampere he started in the light heavyweight division and celebrated victories over the very strong wrestlers Hakan Koc from Turkey , Vincent Aka Akesse from France and Dániel Ligeti from Hungary . He was thus in the final fight against Georgi Gogschelidze, who had meanwhile switched back to his home country Georgia and was subject to this on points. Winning the Vice European Championship was a great success for Heorhij Tibilow.

At the Olympic Games in Beijing he won over Hakan Koc from Turkey , but lost to the eventual Olympic champion Shirvani Muradov from Russia and Chetag Gasjumow from Azerbaijan and came in 5th.
