Hermann Reinhold Pauli (born February 28, 1682 in Marburg ; † August 5, 1750 ) was a German Protestant theologian and preacher .

Life

Hermann Reinhold Pauli came from a family whose male ancestors were clergymen in Danzig . His father Reinhold Pauli was professor of theology in Marburg from 1670 and died in Hermann Pauli's first year of life. His mother Maria Elisabeth, a daughter of the theologian Daniel Tossanus , was born in 1648 Frankenthal and died in 1697. He attended schools in his hometown and in 1696 began studying theology at the university there . Then he studied together with his older brother at the old grammar school in Bremen and from 1701 continued his studies in Marburg. In 1702 he finished his studies with the defense of a treatise on 2 Cor 4 : 6–7  LUT and took a position as court preacher with the widowed princess of Nassau-Schaumburg .

Three years later, in 1705, he became a preacher in Braunschweig . As part of the support of his community, he went on a collecting trip to the Netherlands in October 1705 . There he got to know prominent Protestant theologians. From 1724 Hermann Reinhold Pauli worked as a preacher in Frankenthal. In 1728 he moved to Halle , where he got a position as second cathedral preacher and as a professor at the grammar school illustrious . Pauli became the first cathedral preacher and consistorial councilor in 1734, later also inspector of the cathedral high school . After several illnesses, Hermann Reinhold Pauli finally died on August 5, 1750.

Pauli was married to the daughter of the theologian Johan Friedrich Mieg . Pauli's children were Ernst Ludwig Pauli , Hermann Gottfried Pauli , Georg Jakob Pauli and Louise Katharine Adelheit.
