Hermann Schäfer (politician, 1900)

Hermann Schäfer (born July 3, 1900 in Dargun , Mecklenburg , † December 19, 1961 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Hermann Schäfer attended a community school and did an apprenticeship as a locksmith . In 1917 he joined the union and the following year the SPD. He attended the mechanical engineering school in Berlin and later the state college for economics and administration in Düsseldorf . After the National Socialists “ seized power ” in 1933, Schäfer was taken into “ protective custody ”. He later worked in transport and aircraft construction and passed the locksmith examination in 1937 .

After the Second World War , Schäfer became head of an industrial plant in Berlin and from 1948 co-owner of a fine structural steel company in Berlin-Wedding . In the Berlin election in 1954 he was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives. In the following election in 1958 , he was also elected to parliament, but died in December 1961. His successor was Alfred Keil .
