Hermann Wolf (doctor)

Hermann Wolf (born September 27, 1889 in Pola , Istria , Austria-Hungary , † December 11, 1978 in Bad Reichenhall ) was a German doctor and dentist as well as a university professor of Austrian origin.

Life

Hermann Wolf, son of the Naval Chief Medical Officer Anton Wolf, passed the Matura at the German humanistic kk Staats-Real-Gymnasium in Pola before he turned to the study of medicine at the University of Vienna , which he obtained with the academic degree of Dr. . med. completed.

After years as an assistant doctor combined with training in dentistry , Hermann Wolf completed his habilitation in 1927 as a private lecturer in this subject at the University of Vienna, and in 1937 he was appointed titular associate professor . Wolf was a member of the NSDAP ( membership number 6.295.130), which he joined in 1938. On October 1, 1939, Wolf accepted an extraordinary professorship for dentistry, especially maxillofacial surgery , at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg . There he was the deputy director of the dental clinic at Pleichertorstrasse 32 and director of its maxillofacial surgery department at Bismarckstrasse 13. He was also acting head of the Institute for Forensic Medicine and Criminology at Koellikerstrasse 4a. In 1950 he was promoted to full professor, at the same time he was appointed head of the University Clinic for Dental, Oral and Jaw Diseases, and in 1957 he retired .

Hermann Wolf, the author of numerous articles in his field, became an honorary member of the Association of Austrian Dentists in Vienna, of the Piedmontese Society for Stomatology in Turin , of the Association of Tyrolean Dentists in Innsbruck , of the Association of Specialists in Dental, Mouth and Jaw Diseases in Göttingen , in the German Society for Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine , for which he was also active as President, as well as in the Association of University Lecturers for Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine.

Hermann Wolf, who was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit in 1964 and married Hedwig, née Wolf, in 1916, died in Bad Reichenhall in 1978 a few months after he was 89 years old.
