Hermann Wolfgang Zahn

Hermann Wolfgang Zahn (born January 24, 1879 in Dürkheim ; † May 6, 1965 in Baden-Baden ) was a German neurologist and writer .

Life

The son of the district court director August Zahn (1850-1925) grew up with his grandparents in Edenkoben and Lahr as a result of the early death of his mother, who died in childbirth , attended high school in Landau in the Palatinate and began as a one-year volunteer after military service studied medicine in Munich , where he became a member of the Corps Franconia in 1901 . After stops in Erlangen , Leipzig and Würzburg , he made his PhD in 1905. med. in Munich and was from 1907 assistant to Emil Kraepelin . As early as 1903 he had published a first book of poetry, was in 1905 one of the founders of the magazine flotsam and counted Paul Scheerbart and AR Meyer to his friends; the latter helped him to get some publications as a publisher. He dealt with hypnosis and was a doctor in Berlin's Grunewald sanatorium before he was called up as senior doctor in 1914. From 1915 he headed a nerve hospital in Erlangen and from 1919 to 1950 had a private sanatorium for nervous disorders in Baden-Baden. He associated with Alfred Kubin , Otto Flake , Kurt Aram , Oscar AH Schmitz and other artists and writers.
