Hermann von Broizem
Georg Hermann von Broizem (born October 5, 1850 in Leipzig , † March 11, 1918 in Dresden ) was a Saxon general of the cavalry .
Life
origin
Georg Hermann came from the old Braunschweig family of Broizem . The father Eduard von Broizem (1798–1872) was a Privy Councilor and director of the II. Department of the Saxon Ministry of Finance , the mother Bertha (1810–1861) a born Freiin von Seckendorff .
Military career
After graduating from Vitzthumschen Gymnasium in Dresden, he embarked on an officer career in the Saxon Army in 1868 , took part in the war against France in 1870/71 and rose to general of the cavalry until 1904. As such Broizem was from October 18, 1904 Commanding General of the XII. (I. Royal Saxon) Army Corps . Due to illness, he took his leave on September 25, 1910 . During the First World War Broizem was re-used as a ZD officer and acted as the commanding general of the Deputy General Command of the XII. (I. Royal Saxon) Army Corps. He was one of the two military commanders in Saxony .
Broizem's interests went well beyond the military. For example, he had temporarily taken on the deputy chairmanship of the Geography Association in Dresden .
The writer Ludwig Renn described the highly educated General von Broizem in his autobiographical novel Adel im Untergang, first published in 1944, as "the funniest of all Saxon officers, of whom there have been dozens of anecdotes".
After his death on March 11, 1918, General of the Cavalry Hermann von Broizem was buried in the Trinity Cemetery in Dresden. The grave complex has been preserved.

Since 1877 he was married to Alexandra Countess von Fersen (1856–1940) maid of honor of Tsarina Maria Alexandrovna of Russia , daughter of Paul Graf von Fersen (1800–1884), chief hunter of Tsar Alexander II , who had moved to Dresden , and his wife Elise nee . von Rauch , lady-in-waiting of Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna of Russia
The marriage produced four sons and three daughters, including:
- Elisabeth (1878–1953) ⚭ Dresden October 26, 1897 Werner Freiherr von Seebach (1873–1956), Saxon lieutenant colonel ret. D., owner of the manors Groß- and Kleinfahner
- Marie (* 1880) ⚭ 1904 Kurt von Criegern, died in 1944
- Eduard (* 1883), Saxon senior government councilor
- Bertha (1891–1955) ⚭ October 17, 1910 Erich von Kirchbach (1886–1944), major general
