Friedrich Hermann von Christen (born March 5, 1841 in Besenhausen , † September 26, 1919 in Werleshausen ) was a member of the Reichstag for the Free Conservative Party , which from 1871 onwards also called itself the German Reich Party .

Hermann von Christen grew up in the border triangle of what is now Lower Saxony, Thuringia and Hesse and attended high school first in Eschwege , then in Jena . After graduating from high school, he studied natural sciences and philosophy at the University of Göttingen from 1860 to 1861 and was a member of the Corps Hannovera . Then he took up the management of his agricultural business in Werleshausen in Eichsfeld . Christen was involved locally in local politics as head of office and in various functions at the district level in the district of Heiligenstadt . He also became a member of the district committee of the Erfurt administrative district and from 1889 to 1908 a member of the Prussian House of Representatives . He was a member of the German Reichstag from 1884 to 1890 and from 1898 to 1910 for almost five full legislative periods. He represented the constituency of Eschwege-Schmalkalden-Witzenhausen in both the state parliament and the Reichstag . On January 18, 1896, he was raised to the hereditary Prussian nobility.

He died on his manor in Werleshausen near Witzenhausen on the Werra . His three sons, the district administrators Fritz von Christen , Walter von Christen and Heino von Christen were the heirs of the estate. The former manor is now in Hesse due to the Wanfried Agreement .
