Hermann von Zulow
Hermann Hans Rudolph Christian Maximilian von Zülow (born April 12, 1806 in Nortorf , † January 14, 1879 in Schwerin ) was a grand-ducal Mecklenburg general of infantry .
Life
Hermann came from the old Mecklenburg noble family von Zülow . He was the Danish postmaster Gustav von Zülow (1782–1863) and his first wife Dorothea, née von Buchwaldt (1776–1856).
Zülow was appointed Second Lieutenant in the Grenadier Guard Battalion in 1825 and advanced to Premier Lieutenant and Brigade Adjutant in 1835 . In 1836 he was appointed staff captain and in 1840 captain . In 1842 he was promoted to Grand Ducal Mecklenburg wing adjutant and director of the military training institute and in 1844 to major . As a wing adjutant, his deputy was the Brigade Adjutant Captain Oldenburg.
In 1849, Zülow was assigned to the military department. In 1850 he received the rank of lieutenant colonel and in 1852 he was appointed director of the ministerial department for military matters. In 1853 Zülow was appointed colonel with special recognition of his services , and in 1856 he was appointed head of the military department with the rank of general . In 1858 he became major general , adjutant general and chief of the gendarmerie .
In 1864, the Grand Duke Zülow promoted his good service to the rank of Privy Councilor and Lieutenant General . Finally, in 1874, he was appointed general of the infantry.
Zülow married Elisabeth von Pentz (1803-1881) on November 17, 1832 in Ludwigslust . From the marriage the son Paul (* 1835) and the three daughters Alexandrine (1837-1840), Dorothea (1839-1878) and Marie Luise (1842-1853) emerged.
