geography

The village is located in the southern part of the Haßberge Nature Park on a slope above a valley through which the Kulmbach flows and flows into the Ebelsbach , a right tributary to the Main . The state road 2274 from Rentweinsdorf to Ebelsbach leads past Hermannsberg.

history

The place name goes back to a knight and ministerial named Herimann or Hermann, who probably founded the estate on the hillside.

The first mention was in 1338, when Dietreich von Hohenberg and his wife Elsebeth sold their 16 goods in "Breitbrunne", "except for the mountain that heats the Hermannsberg". In 1384 Ludwig IV von Rotenhan acquired the Hermannsberg manor from the brothers Dietrich and Conrad von Bickenbach. The von Rotenhan family owned the farm for the following centuries. As a result of the Thirty Years War , Hermannsberg was described as a wilderness and a wasteland in 1661. In 1691 the Hermannsberg manor came into the possession of the Würzburg bishop through purchase. The administration took place afterwards in the office and cent Kirchlauter .

After secularization , the Hermannsberg community was formed in 1814/18, which belonged to the Gleusdorf district court and the Kirchlauter patrimonial court . It consisted of three places, the village of Hermannsberg with 40 inhabitants, the hamlet of Edelbrunn with 20 inhabitants 2.0 kilometers away and the wasteland Finkenmühle 1.0 kilometers away .

In 1862 the rural community of Hermannsberg was incorporated into the Baunach regional court and the newly created Bavarian district office in Ebern . The main town Hermannsberg had 103 inhabitants in 1871. The Catholics belonged to the parish in Kirchlauter, 4.5 kilometers away. A Catholic denominational school was located in Breitbrunn, 1.0 km away. In 1900, the 258.11 hectare parish had 129 inhabitants, 102 of whom were Catholics and 27 Protestants, and 26 residential buildings. The main town had 92 inhabitants and 18 residential buildings. The Protestant residents belonged to the Protestant parish in Gleisenau, 3.0 kilometers away . In 1925, 109 people lived in 21 residential buildings in Hermannsberg.

In 1950 the village had 159 residents and 24 residential buildings. In 1961 Hermannsberg had 140 residents and 27 residential buildings. In 1970 there were 132 and 1987 106 inhabitants and 28 residential buildings with 36 apartments.

On January 1, 1970, Hermannsberg was incorporated into Breitbrunn. On July 1, 1972, the district of Ebern was dissolved as part of the regional reform . Hermannsberg came to the Haßberg district.
