The Herz-Jesu-Kirche is a Roman Catholic parish church in the Diocese of Regensburg . It is on Kemnather Strasse in Immenreuth .

history

At the beginning of the 20th century it became too difficult for the believers in Immenreuth to attend church services in the neighboring village, the mother parish of Kulmain . Therefore, in 1915, they pushed for a house of worship to be built on site. After tough negotiations, the architect Meckler from Munich was commissioned to create a design in 1916. After a long break, the plans were taken up again in May 1933 due to an intervention on the occasion of a local visit by Michael Buchberger . Further designs z. B. von Heinrich Hauberrisser were submitted. The decision was made in favor of Georg Holzbauer , who was already working in Krummennaab . He presented the plan for a much larger church.

After the plan was approved, the groundbreaking ceremony was held on June 15, 1934. The beginning of armament in Nazi Germany made it difficult at times to obtain suitable building materials such as non-ferrous metal . On December 7, 1934, the benediction by Chapter Dean Obelth from Pressath could take place in the presence of Josef Hiltl . At Christmas 1934, services were celebrated with improvised equipment in the church, which had not yet been completed and had not dried out. In the following year the pews and the altar were installed. On September 8, 1935, the church was by Michael Buchberger consecrated .

In the Second World War , the church remained unscathed despite low- flying attacks on Immenreuth. With the elevation to the parish curate on May 1, 1948, the parish became independent of the mother parish.

In the 1950s the inside of the church was whitewashed, and in 1962 the outside painting was renewed. In 1956 the side altars were changed. After the Second Vatican Council , the alteration of the sanctuary took place taking into account the guidelines for liturgical reform . On January 1st, 1963, the church was elevated to a parish church. A planned expansion of the church was not carried out.

architecture

The non geostete but oriented to North-East church is built on the northern outskirts of Immenreuth. The white plastered hall church is closed by a gable roof, which is covered with red roof tiles. In the southwest, a slender church tower on a square floor plan is integrated into the gable side. An onion dome is attached to the eight-sided bell storey . The nave is illuminated on the long sides through five high-seated small arched windows and accessed through a roofed portal in the southeast and a roofed portal in the tower.

Furnishing

The interior of the church is kept simple. The interior is closed off by a wood-clad flat ceiling that is supported by longitudinal and transverse beams. In the south-west there is a gallery with square, coffered panels, which serves as the installation site for the organ. The altar area in the northeast is two steps higher than the nave. The crucifixion group from 1955, which Guido Martini created, is remarkable . He was later commissioned to work on other sculptures, some of which are no longer installed today. The way of the cross on the walls of the long sides was made by the painter Bauer from Munich. A wooden sculpture by Helmut Langhammer in the chancel is striking .

organ

After the church was built, a larger harmonium was used to replace a church organ. During this time an attempt was made to acquire a used organ .

An organ was offered through private contacts, which last served as an interim organ for St. Wolfgang in Regensburg . The probably pneumatic membrane shutter instrument was built by the company Weise and, according to an expert report from February 23, 1923 by Peter Griesbacher, had the following disposition :

Manual C–
1. Principal 8th'
2. Salicional 8th'
3. Covered 8th'
4th Aeoline 8th'
Vox coelestis 8 ′ (= No. 2 + 4)
5. Transverse flute 4 ′
6th mixture 2 23
Pedal C–
7th Sub-bass 16 ′

In the course of the negotiations, the parish of St. Josef ( Ziegetsdorf ) also became interested in the instrument in order to equip the newly built church with it. Immenreuth was awarded the contract. On July 24, 1944, the organ was no longer available in Regensburg and was temporarily stored in an unknown location. It was not until the spring of 1946 that Emil Dobmeier from Mitterteich installed the organ in the church.

Over time, the repairs increased in order to maintain the playability of the organ. Therefore, in 1977 the church administration planned to purchase a new organ that would also meet liturgical requirements.

The current organ was built in 1978 by the organ building company Hermann Kloss from Kelheim and inaugurated in December. Eberhard Kraus acted as organ expert for the diocese , who also made the arrangements and played the consecration concert. The company Hey Organ Builders from Urspringen (Ostheim) has carried out a major renovation work of 2008. Since 2016 the organ building company Karsten Hörl (Helmbrechts) has been commissioned to carry out age-related maintenance measures on the organ.

The prospectus is divided into two parts; the mechanical grinding loading instrument with electrical key action is installed in two housing parts. These are set up as towers on the gallery to the left and right of the crucifix . The pedal unit and part of the main unit are located in the left tower . The swellwork was built into the right tower, in front of it there are further registers of the main work. The gaming table is backwards centrally between the two towers.

Bells

A small iron bell from the municipality of Immenreuth served as the first bell . In 1934 an application for the procurement of bells was submitted to the Kemnath district office. After approval, the bell founders Hamm and Humpert submitted cost estimates for various bells. On December 15, 1937, Humpert cast three bells weighing 450, 270 and 190 kg , which were consecrated on Easter 1938. On March 2, 1942, two of these bells were withdrawn for armament purposes.

In 1950 the peal was supplemented by significantly heavier bells from the Humpert company, with the striking tone and the inscription being the same as the previous bells. The originally hand-operated bells were later fitted with electric ringing machines.
