The tradition of organ building in the Hofer Land has existed with the Silbermann student Johann Nikolaus Ritter , his partner Johann Jakob Graichen, his student Friedrich Heidenreich and his son Eberhard since the 18th century. The organ builder and organist Karsten Hörl continued this tradition .
Karsten Hörl completed his apprenticeship as an organ builder with Georg Jann, successor Thomas Jann organ building with a focus on intonation and pipe production . He then worked as a voicer for an organ building company in Austria . From 1999 he worked as a self-employed organ builder and in 2005 founded his own company based in Helmbrechts in the Hof district . Hörl was the owner and managing director.
