history

The tradition of organ building in the Hofer Land has existed with the Silbermann student Johann Nikolaus Ritter , his partner Johann Jakob Graichen, his student Friedrich Heidenreich and his son Eberhard since the 18th century. The organ builder and organist Karsten Hörl continued this tradition .

Karsten Hörl completed his apprenticeship as an organ builder with Georg Jann, successor Thomas Jann organ building with a focus on intonation and pipe production . He then worked as a voicer for an organ building company in Austria . From 1999 he worked as a self-employed organ builder and in 2005 founded his own company based in Helmbrechts in the Hof district . Hörl was the owner and managing director.

The instruments that Orgelbau Hörl looked after included a. the Johannes-Strebel - organ of St. Michael in Stadtsteinach (II / P / 27), the organ of the catholic town church St. Marien in Hof an der Saale (II / P / 24), built in 1885 by Steinmeyer , restoration Klais 1994 / 1995, the organ of the Catholic parish church St. Konrad in Hof (II / P / 25), built in 1957 by Steinmeyer and the organ of the Catholic branch church St. Johannes Nepomuk in Feilitzsch , built in 1998 by Klais (I / P / 10) with unequal Vallotti mood . From 1999 to 2016 he was in charge of the organ of the Waldsassen Abbey Basilica (VI / P / 101).
