The Herz-Jesu-Kirche is a Roman Catholic parish church in Münchwies , a district of the Saarland district town of Neunkirchen . She bears the patronage of devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus . In the list of monuments of the Saarland the church building is a single monument listed.

history

The church was built between 1906 and 1907 according to plans by the architect Wilhelm Hector ( Saarbrücken-St. Johann ) in neo -Gothic style.

In the years 1952 to 1954 the construction of a new bell tower took place , for the design of which the architects Walz and Reif ( St. Wendel ) were responsible.

In the mid-1960s, the chancel was rebuilt , based on plans by the architect Rudolf Birtel (Neunkirchen).

From 1984 to 1989 the church underwent an interior restoration .

Furnishing

The church's furnishings include windows that were made by the Kaschenbach company ( Trier ) in 1966 based on designs by the artist Willi A. Kurz (Neunkirchen) . Furthermore, the altar and ambo from 1989, designed by the sculptor Heinz Oliberius ( Niederkirchen ) and made by the stone sculpture Menzel ( Ottweiler ), as well as a forged bronze grille on the altar, which was created in 1989 by the blacksmith Willi Schild (Münchwies).

In cooperation with the architect Rudolf Birtel, the glass painter and mosaic artist Ferdinand Selgrad ( Spiesen-Elversberg ) was responsible for the redesign of the chancel in the mid-1960s.

The church was painted with filigree patterns during the interior restoration from 1984 to 1989.

The organ of the church was built in 1936 by the organ building company Klais ( Bonn ) as Opus 865 and has been preserved almost unchanged.

The Kegelladen instrument has 12 (13) registers , divided into 2 manuals and pedal . The game and stop action is electro-pneumatic. The disposition is as follows:

Bells

In 1910, the renowned Otto bell foundry from Hemelingen / Bremen cast a fis '' bell for the Sacred Heart Church in Munchwies. In 1954, the Saarlouiser bell foundry in Saarlouis-Fraulautern, which was founded by Karl (III) Otto from the Otto bell foundry in Bremen-Hemelingen and Aloys Riewer from Saarland, cast four bronze bells for the Heart of Jesus with the chimes: e '- g - a '- h'. The bells have the following diameters: 1219 mm, 1023 mm, 913 mm, 813 mm and weigh: 1225 kg, 675 kg, 475 kg, 350 kg.
