Location of Hesselbach in Bavaria

Hesselbach is a part of the community of Üchtelhausen in the Lower Franconian district of Schweinfurt . The town hall of the large community of Üchtelhausen is located in Hesselbach . The village gave its name to the Hesselbacher Waldland .

Geographical location

Hesselbach is ten kilometers northeast of Schweinfurt and four kilometers northeast of Üchtelhausen, in the middle of the Schweinfurt Rhön landscape , which is identical to the Hesselbacher Waldland natural area . The village is located 5 km southwest of Lake Ellertshausen at around 400  m above sea level. NN lying high plateau. Until the post-war decades, this area was relatively snowy. The only access to Ottenhausen is via Hesselbach .

history

The village was first mentioned in 1244 and, at 376 meters above sea level, is one of the highest villages in the Schweinfurt district . This also explains the sometimes much harsher climate compared to the other communities in the district .

On May 1, 1978, the previously independent place was incorporated into the community of Üchtelhausen.

Most of the commercial enterprises of the community of Üchtelhausen are to be found in Hesselbach. The development compared to the last decades is also confirmed in Hesselbach: The number of full-time farmers is steadily decreasing.

There are several clubs in Hesselbach, of which the Hesselbach Sport Club is the largest with around 600 members. There is also the Hesselbach Music Association, the Hesselbach Voluntary Fire Brigade, the Hesselbach Fichtenburschen, the Kolping Family and the Hesselbach Homes.
