Hoppachshof is a part of the community of Üchtelhausen in the district of Schweinfurt . It is the highest village in the Schweinfurt district. Until the post-war period, Hoppachshof was just a hamlet where a new housing estate was eventually built.

Hoppachshof is located in the Schweinfurt Rhön , four kilometers northeast of Üchtelhausen and ten kilometers northeast of Schweinfurt . The town center (chapel) is 403 m above sea level. NN and thus higher than z. B. Lake Constance . Hoppachshof is the highest village in the district of Schweinfurt, but not the highest church village , this is Löffelsterz .

The Höllenbach rises in Hoppachshof, on the Hoppachshofer See , and flows into the Main in Schweinfurt . Not far from the outskirts, at the golf academy at the radio tower, is 421  m above sea level. NN the highest point of the Schweinfurt Rhön. The highest point in the district of Schweinfurt, however, is the leafy hill in the Haßberge at 504  m above sea level. NN .

climate

Due to the high altitude in the middle of the Schweinfurt Rhön , the summers are free from extreme heat and the winters are relatively cold and snowy for Lower Franconian conditions. In the snowy winters of earlier decades, a cross-country ski trail was prepared not far to the south-west, near the hamlet of Thomashof , at the Haselstaude hut of the German Alpine Club .

history

The first written mention of Hoppachshof comes from the year 823. In the following centuries the village was abandoned, in a record from 1509 it is referred to as a desert . The still existing place was founded in 1570. The oldest surviving structure is a half-timbered house from 1740 on Fichtenbuschstrasse. The hamlet of Hoppachshof was part of the municipality of Hesselbach , which was incorporated into the municipality of Üchtelhausen on May 1, 1978 as part of the municipal reform.

On the outskirts of Hoppachshof is the golf academy, with a public 3-hole course and a public driving range .
