The Hillersbach is an approx. 20 km long right and northern tributary of the Nidder .

The Hillersbach rises at an altitude of about 576 m above sea level. NHN south of Schotten -Waldsiedlung south of the Vogelsberg .
It flows in a south-southwest direction and finally flows into Ortenberg - Lißberg at an altitude of about 116 m above sea level. NHN from the right into the lowlands.
Its approximately 20 km long run ends 410 meters below its source, so it has an average bed gradient of 21 ‰.
Catchment area
The catchment area of the Hillersbach lies in the Vogelsberg and in the Büdinger Wald natural area . It is drained through the Nidder, the Nidda , the Main and the Rhine to the North Sea.

- in the west to that of the Laisbach , a tributary of the Nidda

Reservoir
On the district border between glassworks and Ortenberg lies Stauweiher Hillersbach with a seven-meter-high dam and 162,000 cubic meters of storage capacity as the upper reservoir of Nidderkraftwerks of Lißberg.
