The Hirschberg is 1095 m above sea level. A. high mountain of the Allgäu pre-Alps west of the Iller . Most of it lies in the area of the municipality of Langen bei Bregenz , part of the western slope belongs to Eichenberg .
Location and surroundings
The Hirschberg is framed by Kesselbach , Rotach , Bregenz Ach and Rickenbach . It is the highest mountain in the Allgäu Alps west of the Weißach .

The Hirschberg is located in the middle of the Molasse zone of the Bregenz Forest .
Landscape and nature conservation
The summit region of the Hirschberg and large parts of the western slope were declared a nature reserve in 1974.
In addition, the southern and eastern slopes as well as the poor pastures on the southern flank are registered in the Vorarlberg biotope inventory under number 22211.03, whereby it should be noted that arnica , which is characteristic of the nutrient-poor soil, has been increasingly destroyed by fertilization with manure since the 1980s.
Development, use and tourism
The Hirschberg-Alpe is located on the western slope directly below the summit , and a few meters below the summit cross there is a small chapel. The Rotten Unterhirschberg, Hegisberg, Birkenberg, Feßlerberg, Ahornach and Geserberg are located on the slopes of the mountain, the last three being on slight hills of the same name.
In terms of tourism, the Hirschberg stands in the shadow of the Pfänder , which is accessible by cable car and which is much more heavily advertised , although it is 33 meters higher than that. Nevertheless, several hiking trails lead from Langen, Eichenberg or the Pfänderbahn mountain station to the Hirschberg, including the five-hour three-thousand-meter mountain hike with Pfänder, Hochberg and Hirschberg starting from the Pfänder .
