Hives is a Croatian episode film that premiered in 2012 at the Croatian Pula Film Festival and that same year celebrated its international premiere at the Spanish Film Festival San Sebastian . In 2013, Hives was shown at the European Film Market as part of the Berlinale , among others .

Hives plays in the five cities of Zagreb , Jerusalem , London , Cologne and Prague . The individual stories of the feature film are linked to one another by news reports heard by the five main characters. The news reports about a mysterious and worldwide bee disappearance.
Jerusalem
The teacher Nira goes to work in the morning and struggles with this and her marriage when one of her students dedicates a rap song to her. For a moment, Nira becomes weak. A moment that changes your life.
London
Ahmad, an illegal immigrant, is a very helpful and fundamentally positive person who also gives other people confidence. On the bus he meets a desperate man. But he rejects Ahmad's well-intentioned advice. The passenger has just killed his girlfriend and is facing a very difficult decision.
Cologne
The engineer Ralf has difficulties with interpersonal contacts. He is hardly spontaneous, likes security and routine in his life. In the morning traffic jam on the way to work in Cologne, Ralf is one of many and yet isolated. Impressed by the joyful woman in the red car next door, Ralf jumps over his shadow and tries to contact her with the help of a radio presenter.
Prague
A priest nods off on his right hand as the ceremony prepares. When the man wakes up again, his hand is anesthetized . The servant of God hides his nap out of shame and fights his way through the normally routine mass with his hand asleep. His assistant therefore suspects that the priest may have a heart attack .
Zagreb
The unemployed Matija is out and about in Zagreb. He no longer goes to the job he lost a few months ago, but does so. Gradually, however, the burden for Matija becomes unbearable.

Hives is a co-production of five European film schools, which the Croatian Hrvatski audiovizuální centar (HAVC) promoted was. Initiated by the Akademija dramske umjetnosti (Academy of Dramatic Art) in Zagreb, the film was made in cooperation with the International Film School Cologne , Jerusalem's The Sam Spiegel Film and Television School , the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield and the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.
