The Rotte is located on a hill in the west of the municipality, on the L128 state road. The state road L2110 , which leads to Gruberau , branches off in Hochroterd .
The Rotte Großhöniggraben to the west also belongs to the cadastral community with 369 hectares .
In the Franziszeischen cadastre from 1819 the Rotte is still listed as part of the cadastral community Wolfsgraben .
The place name is derived from the red Cretaceous shale clays of the Kahlenberger Nappe, which overlay the Laaber Nappe here ( flysch zone ).
