Hohenlohe is a suburb of Dorfmerkingen , a district of Neresheim .

Location and transport links

The hamlet with about a dozen house numbers and some other agricultural outbuildings is located, surrounded by fields and meadows, at about 680  m above sea level. NHN on the Härtsfeld , the easternmost part of the plateau of the Swabian Alb .

The village of Dorfmerkingen is about 3 km away, the city center of Neresheim about 8 km southeast (as the crow flies).

The state road L 1080 coming from Waldhausen in the west and closer to Unterriffingen in the northeast as well as the county road K 3297 coming from Elchingen in the southwest , which joins it in the center, connect it with the road network.

history

A Roman road ran about 400 meters west of the village and connected the Roman settlements in Heidenheim ( Aquileia ) and Oberdorf ( Opia ).

In the 15th century Hohenlohe was the center of the Hohenlohe Office , which belonged to the Lorch Monastery . In 1471 (first mention) the office and the village were sold to the Teutonic Order Castle Kapfenburg .

In 1872 the place had 77 inhabitants.
