Hohenwald is a district of the district town of Tirschenreuth in the Upper Palatinate . Due to the community reform , the village was incorporated into Tirschenreuth on April 1, 1971. The place name Hohenwald means clearing in high or high forest.

Hohenwald is around four kilometers from Tirschenreuth and around six kilometers from Falkenberg in the historic Stiftland region . The village is located in the north of the Upper Palatinate Forest not far from the district town, which is only a few kilometers to the east. To the west of Hohenwald are the villages of Pirk and Gumpen, districts of the Falkenberg market .
