Hollenbach is a district of the municipality of Anrode in the Unstrut-Hainich district in Thuringia .

location

At the northern transition of the Unstrut lowlands around Mühlhausen into the Eichsfeld hill country , the district of Hollenbach is located east of Bickenriede on the state road 1006 from Mühlhausen to Küllstedt and further. Hollenbach emerged as a street village on the upper reaches of the Hollenbach, a right tributary of the Schildbach. The highest point is the 330.1 m high summer mountain southwest of the village. Most of the demarcation is fertile farmland. In the north, the Schildbach, with its meandering course and natural alluvial forest, shapes the landscape. In the south is the Steingraben, also known as the Hollenbacher Steingraben, which is a dry valley with only sporadic water flow.

history

The Eichsfeld and the area of the Free and Imperial City of Mühlhausen with Hollenbach around 1759 (the map contains some errors: see map description on Commons)

Hollenbach was first mentioned in a document in 1262. Hollenbach probably means swampy countryside by the stream . The village had an eventful history. First it belonged to the Anrode Monastery until 1308 , then it went to the Free and Imperial City of Mühlhausen . In 1400 there were 13 landowners in the village. In 1424 the village burned down. In 1429 the lords of Hanstein stole the farmers' cattle. In 1565 there was a population of 25 in Hollenbach.

In 1802 Hollenbach fell together with Mühlhausen to the Kingdom of Prussia , from 1807 to 1813 to the Kingdom of Westphalia ( Canton Dörna ) created by Napoleon, and after the Congress of Vienna in 1816 it was assigned to the district of Mühlhausen in the Prussian province of Saxony .

In early April 1945 the place was occupied by US troops and passed on to the Red Army in early July . This made Hollenbach part of the SBZ and, from 1949, of the GDR .

After the Second World War , the farmers had to take the path of collectivization and after the political change they had to find new forms of agricultural labor.

In July 2012, Hollenbach celebrated the 750th anniversary of its first documentary mention for three days, including a parade.

Attractions

In the center of the village is the village church of St. Maria Magdalena with a small church in front of it. A landmark of the place is the old oak at the village community center on the southwest edge of the village. It was planted as a peace oak on September 2, 1871. Old beech and oak forests are located in the Uferriede on the Sommerberg.
