Hoofdklasse (chess) 1978/79
In the Hoofdklasse 1978/79 the 56th Dutch team championship in chess was played.
The defending champion Volmac Rotterdam , Elsevier / Vereenigd Amsterdamsch Schaakgenootschap and Desisco / Watergraafsmeer fought a three-way battle for the title. Before the last round Rotterdam was only in third place, but since they defeated Elsevier / VAS and at the same time Desisco / WGM lost to fifth VHS, they managed to defend their title. Discendo Discimus Den Haag and the Schaakclub Groningen had to relegate .
Game dates
The competitions were held on September 16, October 17, November 4, December 9, 1978, January 6, February 3, March 3 and 31 and April 28, 1979.
