Hoofdklasse (chess)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hoofdklasse was the top division in Dutch team chess until the Meester class was introduced in the 1996/97 season .

Organizational form

In the Hoofdklasse ten teams took part in ten boards, which played a simple round-robin tournament . The final placement was determined by the number of team points (two points for a win, one point for a draw , no point for a defeat), then the number of board points (one point for a winning game, half a point for a drawing game, no point for a losing game). The last two were relegated to class 1 and were replaced by the two season winners of class 1. In the 1995/96 season , the first four places were determined in a play-off based on the knockout system .
