Hoofdklasse (chess) 1987/88
In the Hoofdklasse 1987/88 the 65th Dutch team championship in chess was played.
Although the defending champion Volmac Rotterdam lost a competition for the first time since the 1983/84 season, the Dutch team championship was no longer to be taken from them before the last round. Utrecht and the second team from Volmac Rotterdam had moved up from class 1. While Rotterdam's second team achieved relegation, Utrecht had to relegate directly; The second relegated team was the Eindhovense SV despite the victory against the champions .

The competitions were held on September 19, October 10, November 14, December 12, 1987, February 6, March 12, April 16, May 7 and 28, 1988.
