The Horbach , on the upper reaches of Meißenbach , is a brook in the Palatinate Forest ( Rhineland-Palatinate ) and a left tributary of the Lauter , which is called Wieslauter here .

geography

course

The Meißenbach with the strongest source of the upper courses rises in the low mountain range Frankenweide around 1.5 km southeast of the Hermersbergerhof in the area of the local community Wilgartswiesen . It initially flows mainly in the direction of the southwest or south-southwest; it changes its name to Horbach after 3 km at the confluence of a weaker left tributary from the Gewann Große Spachtel .

After a few kilometers, at the tributary of its longest tributary, Hirtenbach , it passes under the Landau – Rohrbach railway line and Bundesstraße 10 at Horbacherhof , and then continues its course in a westerly direction parallel to them. At the passage through the hamlet of Kaltenbach , which belongs to Hinterweidenthal , it crosses under the federal highway 427 and shortly afterwards the Wieslauterbahn , and then flows into the Lauter from the left in Hinterweidenthal . Immediately to the west of the mouth rises the glove head ( 324  m ).
