The Hermersbergerhof is a hamlet in the district of Südwestpfalz in Rhineland-Palatinate , which belongs to the local community Wilgartswiesen . It consists of around a dozen houses in which 151 people live. With a height of 550  m above sea level. NHN is the highest settlement in the entire Palatinate .

The Hermersbergerhof is located on a knoll in the middle of the Palatinate Forest in the Upper Franconian Pasture in the middle of a high plateau. It is located in the north-western municipality of Wilgartswiesen not far from the district boundary to Merzalben and a forest enclave belonging to Annweiler am Trifels . It is enclosed by extensive, compact forest areas. With a few exceptions - such as courtyards - these are not populated.

Flowing waters

The route of the road leading from the south and north to the Hermersbergerhof runs on the watershed between the catchment areas of the Queich in the east and the Lauter , which in this area is called Wieslauter in the headwaters , in the west. The place represents a clearing island . The original Hofgut was founded by the Benedictine Abbey Hornbach after the noble Wiligarta had given the monastery large estates in the Speyergau in 828 . In 1163 the court came to the Cistercian monastery of Eusserthal, only 10 km away . This operated it for three hundred years and finally sold it in 1467 to Duke Ludwig I of Pfalz-Zweibrücken . The knight's stone with the number 52, erected in the 20th century by the Palatinate Forest Association , reminds of the long period as Eusserthal monastery .

In 1773 the then current border situation between the dukes of Pfalz-Zweibrücken , the Leiningen counts of the Leiningen-Hardenburg-Dagsburg line and the rule of Graefenstein , which belonged to the margraviate of Baden , was carved into the Dreiherrenstein near the Hermersbergerhof, which is recorded as Knight's Stone No. 57 is. The district Hermersbergerhof is one of the two local districts of the local community Wilgartswiesen and has its own local advisory board and a local councilor .

Vera Schmitt was appointed mayor of Hermersbergerhof on August 14, 2019, after she had been elected for five years in the direct election on May 26, 2019 with 79.55% of the vote. Schmitt's predecessor was Sabine Lanowski.

There is also a path that is marked with a blue cross and runs from Niederhausen to Sankt Germanshof , as well as the Höcherbergweg , which leads from Niederwürzbach to Böchingen and which is marked with a red and white bar . The path marked with a blue-red bar touches the western edge of the settlement and leads from Kirchheimbolanden to Pirmasens . The place is also a stop for Tour 11 of the Palatinate Forest Mountain Bike Park .

The Hermersbergerhof can be reached from two sides via Kreisstraße 56 . It is 6 km long from the federal highway 10 ( Pirmasens - Landau ), which runs at a height of 220  m in the south , and has been developed for individual traffic. To the north it connects as a narrower, 10 km long road - past the summit of the Weißenberg, which rises 2 km to the northwest - the hamlet with the state road 496 , which leads from Münchweiler to Hochspeyer .
